O-Week Adventures at NCV

The month of February saw 137 new NCV residents stream through the door and participate in O-Week. O-Week is an opportunity for new residents, who have this year come from 34 different nations, to familiarise themselves with Sydney and each other.

A series of various activities were organised by the Senior Resident team, led by Assistant Dean Daniel Hageman and under the guidance of NCV Dean, Susan Bazzana. The action started on Monday 20th of February and continued until the 26th of February.

Monday night gave an opportunity for residents to “break the ice” with a welcome dinner and icebreaker games.

On Tuesday, the week formally commenced with an official welcome by the Master, Assoc. Prof. Bill Peirson, and Dean Susan Bazzana. This was followed by a tradition at NCV – the classic Supper Crawl which involves different foods on every floor of NCV.

Wednesday saw the intelligent minds of NCV residents join forces to compete in a heated trivia contest, while Thursday was a more relaxed BBQ and games night.

Postgraduate students were invited to attend Thursday night’s event, a “Postgrad Night” with networking opportunities amongst fellow peers.

Saturday morning involved delicious free pancakes, cooked by a special guest MasterChef.

Finally, on Sunday new residents raced around Sydney from clue to clue in an Amazing Race. An exciting way to explore the area, this event is always a highlight of the week.

NCV O-Week 2017 was a fantastic opportunity for this year’s community to get to know each other and we look forward to seeing the community grow.
