NCV and New College residents gather for Easter Service

April 24, 2017
Posted by: Ash Braithwaite

Residents of both NCV and New College joined in the Main Common Room at NCV on the evening of Maundy Thursday for a Tenebrae Service. Over 50 people attended and spent time reflecting on the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ that took place nearly 2000 years ago.

Bill Peirson, Master of NCV and New College, started the evening by outlining the significance and meaning of the Tenebrae service before various residents read sections of the crucifixion story from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.

The service included prayer and singing to God, led by a band of New Collegians. Many students remained after the service to chat and enjoy the delicious supper that was provided. The evening was a sombre reminder of the true Easter story and a time to rejoice in the hope and faith that unites Christians.
