UNSW Student Accommodation
LIFE AT NEW COLLEGE VILLAGE
Welcome to the University of New South Wales’ most diverse and interesting student community. Whether you are a postgraduate returning to study after some years in the workforce, or an undergraduate leaving home for the first time, you will find a home away from home at NCV. At NCV diversity is celebrated and whether you are new to the community or returning after two, three or four years we will aim to make you feel at home and thoroughly supported as you undertake your studies at UNSW. NCV shares its name and similar ideals to that of New College at UNSW (which founded NCV). This in turn takes its name in part from the original New College established at Oxford University in 1379. Like its counterparts, NCV is a place concerned about the intellectual, social and spiritual development of its residents, something you won't find in all UNSW Colleges. It is a place that seeks to make a difference to people’s lives and instil a love for life-long learning and openness to the ideas of others. So if you’re looking for accommodation on the UNSW campus, look at New College Village.
NCV is a community of over 300 people living and learning together. All are involved in one way or another with study or research at the University of New South Wales or its related institutions. Students study at all levels in the University, from the UNSW Foundation Year program through to bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees. NCV aims to encourage academic commitment in every possible way, and our students typically maintain higher academic standards than those generally required in the university. We are also a community of people marked by openness to each other’s cultures, areas of study and activities.
The college is founded on Christian faith and values and so we seek to provide care and support consistent with our faith. We also provide opportunities for residents to express their faith and to grow spiritually while they are here. That said, we accept residents of all faiths (and none) and encourage open dialogue about beliefs and worldviews. There is, of course, no religious test to gain entry to NCV.
The living standards and facilities at NCV are second to none. For example, NCV offers air-conditioning in every room which no other of the UNSW Colleges do. But at the end of the day it is the vibrant community that makes NCV a wonderful home-away-from-home.
Thank you for considering New College Village as a place to live while you further your education. This will be a community where you can enjoy outstanding accommodation right on campus, benefit from personal and academic support, and make lifelong friends and contacts. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
