UNSW Sport and Recreation
Living on the doorstep of the University provides immediate access to all of the University sporting facilities, including the Gymnasium, pool, squash courts, badminton and sports fields. The UNSW Sport and Recreation is a department of the University of NSW.
Residents of New College are offered optional UNSW Silver Gym membership. In 2011 this fee for New College residents was just $175. While membership is optional, places are limited and the full membership fee is subsidised by New College.
UNSW has many sporting clubs that field teams in different divisions making it possible for people of different ability levels to get involved. UNSW has produced many international sportspeople, several of whom have also been residents at New College such as the current coach of the Qld Reds Ewen Mackenzie and Australian women’s cricket captain, Alex Blackwell.
Although New College offers many sporting opportunities, some collegians choose to also participate with UNSW Sport and Recreation Clubs such as the following:

With these clubs, New Collegians take part in formal sports competitions organised by the UNSW Sports and Recreation department, in particular the East Coast Games & Australian University Games.
