IT Access Resources
From 2015 New College Village will offer a generous internet package included within the normal accommodation fees.
WiFi equivalent to 30Gig/month will be included in 2015. You need not pay extra for WiFi. Residents can purchase extra data for just $1/Gig. Alternatively, ultra-users can pay a top-up fee of $35 for unlimited data.
From 2015 WiFi blanket service will be available with equal quality throughout the building and in every room. The added option of Ethernet is available in each room at no extra cost.
Our Internet provider in 2015 will be Big Air: www.bigair.com.au
Internet service is provided by BigAir Universe Broadband. An Ethernet cable is provided for connection each residents’ room. Residents’ PC’s require a 10 or a 10/100 Base-T Network Interface Card (NIC). Most computers and laptops should already have this installed.
Access to the NCV network is conditional residents accepting the rules outlined by BigAir and the additional guidelines set out by the NCV’s “Acceptable Use Policy”.
There is free access provided for all residents to a modern business centre with low charges for printing, photocopying etc. The computers and photocopiers (with scanning facilities) are provided and maintained by the NCV. The NCV also provides a fax service, for the convenience of residents.
A computer is available in the reception area for resident use. Access is free but it is limited to basic web searches (e.g. checking telephone numbers, travel arrangements etc.) For access password see reception.
Every resident’s room is provided with a personal telephone and a personal number. Calls internal to the NCV and to New College are free of charge. There is also a free voice mail system. However, for all other calls outside the building residents are charged for the duration and distance of the call. Residents can dial '8' at the NCV to reach reception or a Senior Resident (after hours).
