Facilities

A Floor Supper at NCVThe College has a number of excellent communal areas that facilitate interaction between residents. Residents are accommodated within fully furnished studios or apartments with a weekly cleaning service provided. Every room has air-conditioning and its own ensuite. NCV is a self-catered college and the cooking facilities in each studio and apartment are well appointed with dining and kitchenware. NCV residents can also apply for membership of New College Catering. With this membership NCV residents can eat in at the New College Cafe or get take-away.

Two common rooms are located on each of the seven levels of NCV with a plasma television on each level. The Main Common Room (MCR) on the ground floor of NCV is the main venue for larger community activities and events such as research seminars, music and dance nights, College services and canapé events. The MCR has a kitchen, music facilities and an audio visual system. The NCV games room is a hub for residents to play table tennis or pool and features a lounge and plasma television with Foxtel.

There are a number of facilities and resources in the college to support residents in their studies including a Business Centre (with access to printing, scanning and photocopying services)and a Reading Room. Each room is equipped with a telephone, and a data link to provide computer and Internet access services. The telephone has provision for free voice mail messages.

Two outdoor courtyards, a roof top terrace and BBQ facilities are available to all residents. The NCV Convenience Store is located on the ground floor and is available to both residents and members of the public. Laundry facilities with coin-operated washing machines and dryers are situated in the basement of the building.  Ironing boards are provided on a shared basis, but residents need to provide their own iron.

Security

The building has high levels of security. To maintain a safe living environment, residents are given student card access to operate the security door entrances to the NCV. A fire detection system is also installed throughout the building, and fire drills are conducted periodically.

Disabled Access

NCV has seven disabled friendly rooms. There is ramp access into the building and two lifts providing all residents access to all floors and facilities. Disabled toilets are also accessible on every floor.
